Ian Parsons
Ian is a painter living and working in Margate Kent. His paintings can be described as abstract compositions influenced by his curiosity and contemplation about the nature of the universe.
He paints intuitively, each individual brush stroke begins as a conversation about the relationship between opposing forces. Balancing strength and fragility, dark and light and how to create harmony between them.
He invites the viewer to take a moment of quiet contemplation and lose themselves in the marks and colours and to discover something new every time they return to the work.
Ian works predominantly in oils, and the paintings undergo many changes sometimes over many months until they reach a point that expresses the beauty and calm that exists when everything is in balance.
Ian studied Fine Art at Loughborough College of Art in the early 80’s and returned to painting in 2020 after a varied career in set design, scene painting, rigging, problem solving and setting up Clayspace a not-for-profit pottery teaching studio in Margate.
